I know that you know this, but 2020 has been a tough year for a lot of people. The entire world has suffered from loss, fear, and exhaustion. On a personal level and like many others, I dealt with other struggles. I lost my last remaining grandparent this year. We managed the stress of renovating a new-to-us home and strategizing on how to afford renovations and when. It has been an exceedingly polarizing election year. I dealt with a few more personal struggles. Life doesn’t care that COVID-19 is shutting down the world— those significant life changes and upheavals are coming at you regardless. I know I’m not alone in looking forward to seeing 2020 in my rearview mirror.
There are a few good things I’ll take with me from 2020. We did complete a lot of renovations on our home! While inconvenient at times, quarantine also gave Chris and I a lot of uninterrupted time together, and for that, I am grateful. (Our work schedules sometimes have us seeing each other for literal minutes over several days!) I started a very new and very different role at work this year and I am enjoying it so far. We are hopefully squeezing in a trip before 2020 sees its way out. All of this to say, silver linings do exist.
My hope in beginning this site is to have a creative outlet where I can express myself while simultaneously learning new skills. While 2020 will TRULY be a year that none of us forget for a long time to come, I hope for there to be something positive that I can carry with me into the future. I want to be able to look back and say, “in 2020, I built my blog from the ground up” and not “wow, 2020 was an absolute BUST!” I have big ideas for what I’d like for this to become. I am excited about learning along the way. Thanks for reading!
Oh, and I almost forgot— Happy Halloween!
